Fondant Baby Shower Cake!

This is a 4 tier fondant Baby Shower cake that I made for a friend. These photos were taken very quickly as they were pulling up my driveway to load the cake. Pictures taken at night so please excuse the poor lighting.

HI! A YouTube friend of mine had a pattern on a PDF file and she e-mailed it to me. I think you might still be able to find it on the internet if you google “baby bootie pattern” or something to that effect. It’s been so long that I don’t even think I have it anymore! LOL! If I did I would love to share it with you! Let me know if you find it, if not, maybe I can ask my friend to send it to me again ok? Talk to you soon! :)

Hi again! I know this was done a while ago, but I was wondering if you could tell me how you made the booties! They’re adorable!

I don’t think the pans come into play, but one never knows. I use Satin Ice fondant and everyone seems to like it very much. I’ve never made marshmallow fondant nor have I ever tasted it. I would recommend that you look up CakeLove here on YouTube. Warren Brown has tons of scratch recipes for great tasting cakes. You can find one of his videos on my top favorites and then just go to his page from there. I bought his book “How to make cakes from scratch” and he has TONS of great recipes! :)

Well, alot of people didn’t like the fondant that i made which was marshmellow fondant…and some didn’t like the cake part…which is my own cake recipe that i have used for years, so i’m kinda wondering if i need a different cake recipe, i made the mistake of making two new recipes that i found on the allrecipes website and they didnt’ rise properly ..i used the sponge pans i’m wondering if that was the problem..the pans or the recipes i’m not sure…i want them to taste as good as they look..

  13. laurapoopie says:

Thank you so much! Can you tell me, was it the fondant that didn’t taste good or was it the cake? If it was the cake, what cake recipe do you usually use? :)

  14. lindagauthier4 says:

You’re cake looks amazing! I made my first fondant cake last weekend but i was disappointed with the taste..can you recommend any cakes recipes to try for a better tasting cake?

  15. laurapoopie says:

Fondant is icing. It’s not hard. If done right it looks very smooth. :)

Thank you so much! Yes, I did do a TREMENDOUS amount of baking! This is when a commercial oven would come in very much handy! :) Yes, I was so upset about the fact that I couldn’t do a video that would serve this cake justic! Oh well, SE LA VIE! :) Thanks for watching! :)
