Formula Milk – How To Ensure Your Baby Gets The Best
All new mothers know that for your baby breastfeeding is best as you pass on all your antibodies and it is healthy. Not everyone finds it easy to breastfeed and the most important thing is for your baby to get the right nourishment to help them develop and thrive well. Formula milk is the alternative if breastfeeding isn’t working out. You can choose from many options.
What ever brand you choose, they are all prepared accordingly by regulations by the FDA which specify the minimum and maximum nutrient levels that are reuaired for infant formulas. These recommendations are set by the American Academy of Paediatrics Committee on Nutrition. All infant formulas must meet the regulations and the policies of the Infant Formula Act so that they are safe for your baby and have the right nutrition.
The American Academy of Paediatrics do not endorse products or recommend that you use any particular brand or formula, although they do specify that you not use low iron formula, if you have decided that you don’t want to breastfeed for whatever reason.
Baby formulas are all made up of different types of sugars and proteins. Similac Advance, Enfamil Lipil, and Nestle Good Start Supreme are infant formulas that are regular iron fortified; made up of lactose and proteins which are based on cow’s milk. This is the right milk to give infants if they are not being fed solely on breast milk.
For those children unable to tolerate lactose or any milk proteins, there are soy formulas. These are made up of lactose free soy proteins.
Another lactose free product are elemental formulas which are made up of hydrolysate proteins. These are particularly for infants that have protein allergies and are easier to digest. Look at the family history to see if there any food allergies or formula intolerances, and if you choose not to breastfeed, your baby can be started off on a soy or elemental formula.
