While looking for ice cream we got side tracked into this shop, obviously just barely making it — originally perhaps a candy store, but with the dwindling of the tourist trade trying to drum up a little extra business renting wifi and selling cheap clothes and used books. Anyway the kids spent a good half an hour in here examining the down-market candy offerings, not available in the big konbini (convenience stores. Lawson’s Corner was an extremely popular destination, which never failed to produce some astonishingly-packaged goodie), probably because they were nearly inedible agglomerations of high-fructose corn syrup — but to our (round) eyes the packaging was incredibly exotic. The kids finally emerged, each with bags and bags of nonsense, much to the joy of the proprietress.
