Question by His LadyBug: what are good Christmas gifts for newborns?
I will be having my 2nd son around November. Since he will be brand new, we will have everything that we “need” for him, but I will feel bad having my 22 month old all kinds of presents and having my newborn hardly anything. I was thinking that maybe it will be best to get him things that he will use before his first birthday, such as toys marked for 6 months or so. Any suggestions? Thanks!

A personalized ornament… There is a place in my mall that makes them so maybe you have a place like that near you? That would be a good keepsake gift.
But I think getting toys for the first year are a good idea as well… My son didn’t have much stuff to play with from 9-12 months because all of his toys were too babyish. Thankfully he just had a birthday and got so many cool toys that I think we’re good until next year… not to mention all the things he will get for Christmas this year!

your son wont even notice he doesnt have as many gifts. they dont know whats going on. and he cant open them his self. thats when it gets good, is when they can open them there selves. but get diapers, clothes, toys. just whatever you want to get. my son will be 6 months on Christmas, and we are getting him some toys and clothes.
I like your idea. It is a nice time to stock up on some nice toys that can be utilized in the summer. (savings!) You know as well as I do, that your Nov. baby will not only care less about xmas but will probably sleep through most of it.
I understand you wanting to treat the children equally on the holiday, but if you think about it baby is going to be getting A LOT of attention and A LOT of goods over the next few months. I think this is a nice opportunity to make your older child feel important and special.
Hand print keepsakes, ordament, growth chart….
Books, get special ones for Christmas, that you can bring out each year. Maybe something about the older sibling being a “big”. Nancy Tillman has a good Christmas one too, Ive gotten as gifts for parents who have a baby around that time.
There is no need to feel bad that the newborn wont be getting gits…I am quite sure he will be very unaware of what’s going on…in any case personalized ornaments/keepsakes that say baby’s first christmas and the year are always nice and something they will appreciate when they’re older.
Toys (lots and lots) family and friends will also get toys i expect so maybe personalized gifts would be nice! Clothes aswell clothes are always a good present. Hope this helps. Mega sketchers are always a good idea as there is no mess, you can just scribble and then erase and start again!
your son wont know any different at the age so he wont feel left out or nothing just get him a few pram toys and things he can feel and maybe persnalised items for him.
a playmat is a good idea.
or a mobile for his cot.
or a bouncer.
May be a very soft toy that is washable, something he can sleep with, like a lovie. My 21 year old daughter got one from a friend of mine when she was 3 months old and she still cherishes it.
