i want to make/buy/get something really special for her/him but i dont know what i should do. anyone have any cute/unique ideas? thanks soo much!

buy her a baby name book and tell her to rethink the name

hook hime up with some TOYS or outfits…..maybe some room decorations idk
You can open up a college fund for the baby and put some money in it.
If you have time and dedication, knit her a baby blanket. If you don’t know how to knit, they sell kits to learn the methods.
If you are just looking for something quick and simple, you might just do what the rest of your party goers will do. Hit the store where she registers and buy her what she called for on the list.
A carseat, one of those things that the baby sits in while he takes a bath, or a baby stroller (preferably a good one)

If she is your best friend, see about maybe making a blanket with his name on it and cute animals or something —- that is something that will NEVER be given away or thrown out.
is she registered? i would start there. even though you want to get her something “special” the registry is there so she gets what she “needs” which is important right now.
you could make an animal of some kind. i’ve crocheted several octopi for people having babies and they’ve really been hits. they’re really easy too. hope it helps!

diaper cakes are the best! i got one for my baby shower, and i made one for a friends. they are something they can hold onto for a while.
Get her one of the big things on her registry. If you are going to spend say, $100, I’m she would much rather have a swing than a sentimental blanket embroidered with Clay’s name on it. In day to day life, I never use any of the ‘special’ gifts I got at the baby shower… I find them all useless. You don’t want to get stuff dirty that is all fancy, and well, babies soak through their clothes, spit up on their blankets, and break their toys. Day to day useful stuff is the best.
Some things I made for my neice when she was born were hand painted blocks with animals on them, washcloth puppets for the bath and a blanket. I found free instructions for all of these online so you might search around to get some ideas.
there’s a series of cd’s called “rockabye baby” you can get them on amazon.com. they’re cover cd’s of famous bands like radiohead, the cure, led zeppelin, etc. but all the songs are made into lullabyes. they’re really cute.

When my youngest was born, his grandparents got a book published all about his birth. It was through the VA–(military)–so I don’t know if it is still around. You can do a google search of websites that will make a book all about your babys birth. It had his birth stats, parents names, siblings names, and the names of the first visitors. It was really cute. My son is 6 now and loves to have me read it to him.
DIAPER CAKE! I made one for my cousin’s wedding and everyone loved it. You can take inexpensive items on your friends registry to add to the diaper cake. They are actually really easy to make. Check out some websites for great ideas.
