Do not buy a lot of 0-3 clothes. Honestly you probably need about 7 outfits, 4 pajamas, a 6 onsies. Everyone overbuys clothes for their babies, me included! They are just so cute! But they grow out of them so fast that it isn’t really worth it because the baby will only wear an outfit a couple of times and then outgrow it.

What do you think? Answer below!

I was so excited about having my daughter that I went overboard with the clothes shopping. I bought way to many and half of them she didn’t even wear once, what a waste! Buy enough that you are not constantly doing the wash and buy more clothes when they will be in them longer. They grow so fast in the beginning.

I think depending on the time of year and what the weather will be like you can’t have too many basic onsies or sleepers. those are great for everyday. Don’t get fancy, just like white basic ones. I would probably get about 5 outfits, you know things that are cute and match. Use those for when you take baby out and want to show him/her off. But for the days your just around the house which is most of the time unfortunatly, just basics will work. although if you’re haveing the baby in summer, less won’t hurt because they can just chill in a diaper around the house. When getting sleepers the ones that are open on the bottom like a dress last longer they kind of grow with them. Also to save so you don’t spend too much on uneeded clothes, check garage sales theres a lot this time a year. Congratulations and good luck!!!

Well I overbought on clothing and litle did I know I would have a preemie that couldn’t even fit into the 0-3 months until she was 3 months old and by then they were the wrong season. You never know so I say the basics to have on hand are:

0-3 months onesies I would have around 9.
    0-3 months sleepers I would have 7

Then maybe a few cute little picture or going out outfits.

You may have a baby that spits up a lot and you are changing them and you may not.

You don’t have to buy everything at once. Buy what you right now and then later you can buy things as you go along. Keep tags on some things as you may never use them.

Not a lot! I don’t know how many outfits I just put up from Newborn to 0-3 months that still have the tags on them! I’d say no more than 5 of everything! Maybe a few more onesies, but thats it!

Get a good stack of 3-6 and 6 month onesies and longsleeve sleepers – even if baby will be born in the summer months (think air conditioning and you’re not supposed to put blankets on new baby and in crib). Don’t buy too many 0-3 month clothes because baby will be out of them before you know it and you’ll get a lot of this size from friends/family and your shower. Also steer clear of any clothes that are uncomfortable (stiff cotton, denim, polyester, etc.) these clothes look cute and may be nice for a photo shoot but you’ll never end up dressing baby in this type of stuff. Stick to stretchy cotton jersey material with snaps or covered elastic. Zippers and buttons are a pain on a little baby.

I would get 2 weeks worth of onsies, sleepers and clothes, that way your not doing laundry all the time. But after 3 months they really do go through alot of clothes, because of all the spit up and what not, I do launry every week, it the hamper is completly full! So just get as many as you like really, its your call on how much and how often you feel like doing laundry. Bibs you can never have enough, I have atleast 20 and go through them like crazy!

i know how it is i just had my son (bby #1) almost 3months ago and i way over bought stuff for the little man… you really don’t need that much…i bought stuff and didn’t even use half of it…there were some outfits i really liked so he wore those most of the time so i forgot about the others… just by what you think he’ll actually wear and dont over stock they’ll grow out of it sooner then u know it

We received a lot of baby clothes at our shower. I like having a lot so that I didn’t have to do laundry too often. But I’d be comfortable with about 5-7 sleepers (so I can go a full week without washing). I’d get more onesies than that though, so that if there’s a major accident and the onesie needs to be changed (but not the sleeper) there are extras. We only put him in outfits when we were going out which wasn’t too often in the first few months. But it was also cold outside when he was born so when we did go out, he was usually in a sleeper. So think about how often you’d probably go out and how you’d probably dress the baby when you go out to figure out how many outfits you’ll need. For 3-6 months, you would need a bit more clothing but not too much because they grow our of this size quickly also. But again, I’d think about how often you’ll go out, what the weather will be like when the baby will be that age, and how often you’re willing to do laundry. We have outfits my son never got to wear because he grew out of them before the weather was appropriate for him to wear them. So definitely consider that before you buy.

Well if it makes you feel any better I just cleaned out my 9 month old daughters closet today & I counted everything that I took down just because I was curious to know how much she actually had. This is the total…50 (0-3months) 63 (3months) 6MOnths-6-9 (70 outfits) this is not including any of her 9 month old clothes or her 12 month old clothes that I have started working on. I tried to make sure my daughter wore everything atleast once. We had a problem with her spitting up after every feeding so she was constantly getting changed! Plus baby girl clothes are soo cute how can you not buy stuff!
