this little electronic book thing, he loves it.
The COOLEST thing I have EVER seen for babies and toddlers is the ” My Baby Can Read” series! I have already told my 3 teenagers that as soon as my Grandbabies are born they will be getting this! I wish they would have had it around when they were little!
The old standards are my favorites and likely the best for sparking the imagination and improving hand-eye coordination:
crib mobiles
crib busy box
Wooden ABC blocks
Shape sorters
Peg puzzles
waterproof story books
super sized Legos (smaller ones are choking hazards)
bubble gum mowers
ride on toys: rocking horses, rocking chairs or any others where the child has to do the work to set it in motion.
Toys with batteries and lights and sounds make the least imaginative children, IMO.
I keep up on the latest, greatest, and not so greatest toys and I recommended products to parents. The average child will own hundreds of toys over their lifetime, but very few will make an impact.
My picks are as follows:
Fisher Price’s Ocean Wonders Aquarium (newborn + age group)
Learning Curve Lamaze Grip N Grab Rattle (3 months + age group)
Fisher Price’s Peek A Blocks Incrediblock (9 months+ age group)
For the 18 months and older toddler crowd, it’s a tie between the Chicco Bilingual Talking Farm and Fisher Price’s Laugh And Learn Home.
