Question by Alina’s Mommy: Infant shoes?
Do you think there is a time when infants need shoes on?
What I mean is, if an infant doesnt walk or crawl yet, do you think there is any occasion they absolutely need shoes?

I don’t think so in my opinion. It does look cute, though. But I could only guess that, it’s not very comfortable to their cute little feet.
Nah, my son hardly ever wears shoes. And if I do put them on him, it’s just for ‘looks’, like with special outfits or whatever. Now, when he starts trying to walk or pulling up on stuff, trying to stand, I’ll probably start putting shoes on him at that point.
I dont think they’re great as they restrict movement…and if you look at a abbies feet youll see how much they flex them and wiggle them…this is all important excersise ready for walking….I think that on a special occasion they are cute but otherwise no need.
I don’t think and infant ever needs to wear shoes until they are walking outside. If it’s cold and you are taking them outside they may where heavy socks, booties or a suit with footies in it with a blanket. I’ve also read that when you’re baby is learning to walk you should leave them shoeless whenever possible to help them strengthen the muscles required to walk. Overall, I think it would be up to the parent. There are many cute infant shoes out there but why go to the hassle of putting them on your baby if he/she doesn’t need them.
I put my newborn in shoes (soft sole) because they’re cute. No other reason, really, until they start walking or if it’s cold outside.
My son didn’t wear shoes for the longest time. My pediatrician said that socks are sufficient until they start walking or going outside.
No, not at all. I’ve actually read articles stating it can do damage to their growing bones.
Babies need to shoes to keep their feet warm in cold weather, or to protect their feet when they are walking outside. Otherwise, no reason (except fashion) to put shoes on babies/toddlers.
no, unless their feet get cold there is no reason for them. in fact, doctors advise against shoes until walking is well established and when shoes are needed ( outside walking) they should be a soft soled shoe
I always put my baby in shoes and have done nearly all his life.I think that they are not exactly needed but in cold weather are good to keep feet warm. Its up to you really
I started putting shoes on my daughter when she was around 7 months old because it was really cold outside and she was no longer in her infant carrier. She sometimes held my hands and walked from the door to the car.
