How can I get a few samples of baby formula in Australia? ?

Question by Monya: How can I get a few samples of baby formula in Australia? ?
I have tried s26 but my two month old doesn’t like it. I need to return back to work and want to have my mother in law look after her but need to find a suitable formula for times when I can’t pump enough or she wants a top up. I cannot financially afford to purchase diffrrant brands formulas at the moment.

Ive been using nestle’s NAN formula ever since my daughter went off breast feeding and kept her on that ever since. I recommend it. If you want samples, maybe ask your health centre nurse, as they usually always have them.

In the US, big stores like Wal Mart and Costco have their house brand formula that is the same as the name brands. You won’t get samples, because those free samples are a marketing cost that is passed on to the consumer, but if you end up using formula, it is a cheaper option. I would discourage grandma against “topping up”.

If you pump once a day in the morning, before, after, or while feeding so that you always have a bit extra if needed. make sure that you are getting enough to eat and drink and work, and plan to pump at least 3 times while you are away. Also make sure that the last thing you do before leaving, and the first on arriving back to baby, is to breastfeed. Continue that extra pumping first thing in the morning, even on the weekend, and you should always have a bit more than you need. Don’t forget to nurse frequently on the weekend as well, so that your body can get back to making all the milk the baby needs by Monday.

I used Karicare because my 2nd child did not like S26. I would suggest going to the chemist and the big supermarkets and looking in the formula section for the stick packs. I know you can get S26 with 6 sticks in it and it only costs about $6.00. I’m sure I have seen Karicare like this, not sure on other brands though. Atleast will save you some money.

I started my son on Nestle’s NAN at 9 weeks. I don’t know if the lady at the Chemist was bullsh!tting me but she said it’s the closest to breastmilk. My son doesn’t have any issues digesting it and never has bad gas or spit up. There are two kids for the 1 month and you can tell the difference by the lids, one gold one silver, the silver is cheaper about 22, whereas the gold is around 26. Always by from the Chemist, their price remains the same where as Woolies/Coles can have a 6-7 dollar difference each week!

If I were you I’d just try pumping extra for the time being.
