Question by learningbusiness: American made toys?
Are there American made baby/toddler toys in toy stores anymore? We started holiday shopping for my daughter and stopped in Toys R Us…and I couldn’t find anything that wasn’t made in another country. Should I just shop online…and how do I know that even those toys are 100% American made?

There is really no problem with Chinese made toys, just which Chinese toys make it to shelves, and which stores sell what. It’s cheaper to produce items in China, which is not always good. Now I used to work for Toys R Us, and I know their standards for the products they sell. TRU has a whole website dedicated to product safety and recalls http://www.toysrus.com/safety
A lot of other stores will sell a cheaper brand of toy with less product testing and safety standards, have you ever really seen a whole lot of cheap knock offs at TRU? That’s why. If anything, buy from TRU, at least you know your toys are safer then certain others.
I don’t even know if we still make these any more,but i had Tonka trucks as a child in 73,but who knows now,i would look around these sites.

I think you should just shop online. My dad went to a department store today in hopes of buying a toy for my daughter, but everything was made in China!

I know someone else said that Chinese toys are ok, but I would not buy them, not now anyway. Too many recalls have happened lately. It is up to parents to protect their children from harm.
