Question by Hannah S: How early should you send baby shower invites?
I was just wondering what everyones opinions were on the best time to send out baby shower invites? For example, I am planning on having my baby shower on July 16. When should I send invites? I don’t want to send them so early that people may forget, but I don’t want to send them so late that people don’t have time to prepare. (If they need to ask for the day off work, or travel from another state)
=)
I have family members who want to come for summer vacation at the same time. That is why they would be traveling from out of state.

I would say the beginning of july. I sent mine out about 2 weeks in advance and alot of people ended up showing!
Travel to another state? For a baby shower? Huh? Dude, you’ll be getting the gift in the mail.
its good to give them about 4 weeks to prepare. this way, people get paid and remember to get a gift, or save up for one. also, its far enough ahead to hopefully be priority over other engagements but not too far ahead that they will forget. mine is in a month and havent gotten to sending them yet lol. but i figure my family does things last min, this is ok. lol. congrats
Mine is at the end of next month, Im sending them by next week. Just to give people time to shop and take off work if needed.
My baby shower was March 5, 2011 I sent out my invites on January 5, 2011. I also had individuals traveling from numerous states I wanted to give them ample time to book flights and give their job notice. The guests had from January 5-February5th to rsvp. the venue i was using had 3 differents room for guest capacity so from the responses we received we were able to choose the room that we wanted and would suit our guests. i had over 115 guests dont worry about the gift part i had so many gifts i needed a uhaul lets just say my baby girl is set on pampers and wipes for at least 6-8 months.

Throwing it for yourself? That’s begging… People should give gifts because they want to, not because a party obligates them
