School Photo Day Form 2b2 or 3b2 – Best clothes please – Who cares!
This is either the second or third year.
In the second year. Two be or not two be that is the question, but only we know the answer.
For the second year onwards, I had grown out of my blazer, it was never replaced, the only boy in the photo that has a blazer, had not yet outgrown it.
Two of us manage to get moved to a different grade of form, Dave (Lumberjack shirt) Leighfield has shot up in height, we were about the same height when we arrived.
Life was much better, almost no homework, and most lessons we were just there to pass the day. Most General Science lessons we sat and watched a film whilst the science teacher (female) marked the books of the ‘A’ form, just rasing her head at odd time to tell us to quiten down. A mixed form of boys and girls in the dark………..I think we did biology on our own, without a teacher explaning the facts. The life and cycle of the amobea did not seem to have much to do with our lives.
Often sitting with our hands on our heads in silence, just like the infants.
‘Joe 90′ was our Form teacher that year, probably the smartest dressed of all the teachers
(Back Row) Martyn Foot, Peter Dash, Simon Curtis, David Leighfield, David People, Philip Howard, David Brown?, John Fairbanks.
(Middle Row) Nigel Smith, Clive Pottinger, Stephen Kitteridge, Gary Bowles, David Reed, Carl Featherstone.
the only girl I can name is Yasmin Norman-Thorpe. The others I have all been told the names of: Pamela Horsell, Leah Caster, Mary Nokes, Teresa, Shelly.
I think that year girls were in short supply)
If there are names to correct please list.
Is it really true that Nigel married Yasmin
Note to ‘Joe 90′ (Science teacher) do not set fire to long lengths of magnesium wire, only a very small piece is needed.
Also, remember to put the sticks of phosphorus back in their jar once you have cut off your piece, and don’t leave them out whilst you do something else.
The headmaster got a little cross when one of our form, brought his large German Shepherd dog to school after being caned. The boy was caned for leaving the room without permission, he had originally asked to visit the toilet during the lesson, permission was refused. He just got up and left the room.
I knew the dog was not fierce, but I don’t think the headmaster wanted to find out.
End of year prank was to sell the metal school gates to the local scrap man.
I bet those who now go to Warneford, can’t believe that we looked such a bunch of scruffs, not having a school uniform – but folks, most of the staff could also dress as scrufs.
And one of the best teachers Mr Smith – Rural Studies – RIP
