Should I nurse or feed my baby formula?

When it comes time to feeding your child after delivery, there are several options. Breast-feeding or providing formula to your child. The recommendations are to try and breast-feed for a year, however, breast-feeding is not always easy. I think that’s one thing that as women we’re are not fair to each other in telling people what to expect when you breast-feed. Breast-feeding is natural, but it’s not always easy. Breast-feeding can be difficult, in the sense that sometimes babies don’t always latch on appropriately. It can be very uncomfortable, if the latch is not correct and breast-feeding can be time-consuming, however, breast-feeding is ultimately the best thing for a child. It provides that child with the mom’s immunity, so that this child is less likely to develop ear infections, and they’ve also shown that breastfed babies are less likely to develop diabetes. It is definitely one of the best things available. The other great thing about breast-feeding is that you actually burn more calories breast-feeding than when you’re pregnant. You go through 500 calories a day while breast-feeding, versus when you’re pregnant you need 300 more calories. Breast-feeding will help a mom to bond with her child, help the baby get the nutrition it needs, and it will help her to lose the pregnancy weight.
