try a savings bond-if you get the right kind it will mature at twice what you pay. Call it the beginnign of her college fund. it is NEVER too early to start that.

Maybe just get the mother a plastic child’s toy bucket and fill it with a bunch of toys from the dollar store.
Even buy some dollar store diapers and throw them in.
It’ll be cheap but will look cute!

I once made a scrap book $12.00. But it took about
2 1/2hours to make. Its more personal, that way when mom and dad take all the pics all they have to do is put in the pic, and have the book of memories already organized!!
Buy a basket that will match the theme of the room and fill it with things that the baby will need.
Bibs, onesies, bottles, wipies, diapers, books, hygiene kit (baby q-tips, nail clippers, thermometer etc.), Infant Tylenol (pain reliever/fever reducer), Baby body wash, wash cloths, a hooded towel, etc.
Those are just some examples, to put all of those things in the basket just may break the bank =). I got a basket like this at my baby shower and it was my favorite gift! I use the basket now as a hamper for my little one and it was so nice not to have to buy baby body wash and infant Tylenol. It eased some of my worries! Good luck

Buy a plastic baby tub, a pack of size (1) diapers, some cheap baby rattles, and maybe a baby wash rag, onesie, or receiving blankets, some tulle, and pink satin ribbon.
Remove the diapers from the plastic bagging, and assemble them inside the tub to make a pyramid shape. Using scotch tape, apply the rattles, rags, onesies, and blankets to the diapers forming a ‘bath tub cake’ if you will. Wrap it all up in tulle, affixing a pink satin ribbon to the top! There you go!!! Shouldn’t cost you much more than $30.
I usually choose a coordinating theme for my presents like “things in a diaper bag.” Then I buy all sorts of little things to go into a diaper bag. Travel size lotion, travel size sunscreen, disposable changing pads, spare outfit, travel wipes, mini first aid kit, handi-bags, diaper rash cream. Because you’re buying travel size articles they’re cheaper than the full size items and everything goes together. If your budget is large enough you can get the diaper bag too.

I like to make diaper cakes they are cheap and creative. Get some diapers from the Dollar store, depending on how many layers of the cake will depend on how many diapers you will need to get. Roll the diapers up and then tie rubber bands around them. By some socks, spoons, teething toy or a rattle and stick them into the cake. Everybody loves diaper cakes!
