(11.365) After our conversation, Muffin snuggled in with The Birth Gang. He got especially close with the Angel in an attempt to get in good with the Baby Jesus (who is velcroed to the Mary in the front.)

Last night some people from KingAve were invited to another local church to talk about being gay and Christian. You never really know where any group will BE on the map of acceptance and inclusion…I guess I was just really happy to see these churches caring and growing in that direction.

Some of the questions were really gay-centric and I was getting the impression that a gay person might walk through their doors next week and they might walk up to them and say "Hi what’s your name! How long have you been gay? Let me ask you more gay questions so you know I’m accepting!"

I piped up: "In order to be a welcoming congregation, you don’t always have to talk to me about how gay I am all the time, adding TheGay every conversation. When it comes down to it, I assure you that I think about the same stuff everyone else does….I don’t know….do I buy organic meat or not?…Can I get in to see the doctor this week? Where is my career taking me?"

"I hope to see that you won’t reel if I mention my partner or girlfriend, and not see shock register on your face. But then we don’t have to talk all-gay-all-the-time. Ask me about my dog! My job! Let’s be two regular human beings!"

After we were done, a bunch of people came up to say thanks…

And then they asked me about my dog.
And my job.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Bill and I spent Thanksgiving together at home, just the 2 of us. Brined and roasted free range organic chicken, classic New England stuffing (organic bread, organic celery, organic onions, natural sausage, butter, raisins), roasted sweet potatoes, salad (baby spinach, gorgonzola, pine nuts, dried cranberries, olive oil, 18-year aged balsamic vinegar), and wine. Oh, and don’t forget the huge stick of Kerry’s Gold Irish Butter. This butter is exceptional (and I consider myself an expert!) – I keep it on hand for spreading when flavor really counts.
